Perseverance — Lessons from Dhoni
The art of forgetting but still remembering.
It is a common word that success comes from perseverance, and that learning from mistakes is an integral part of not repeating them again.
Obviously, its real meaning and how to approach mistakes in the correct way is as important to understand as well.
Remember the time Dhoni was not selected in the Under-19 team and Yuvraj himself took care of the whole Bihar team.
The shot. The catch and the wicket.
Obviously Dhoni was not one of the selected players. What followed?
Dhoni: Chottuu, Ek darjan Singhada aur ek kilo baalusahi.
Dhoni: Ka hogaya, bilkul shaant pad gaye aap log?
“Selection nahi hua h, pata h hamko.”
“Dekhie, is tournament se hamko itna pata chal gaya h ke itne se nahi hoga. Hamko aur mahnat karna padega. Aur islie aaj ka din hamare lie bahut important h.”
“Ye party isliye h, ki ham aajka din nahi bhulna chahte.”
And that is the basic principle of perseverance.
Keep your achievements close to your heart, but your defeats even closer.
I bet you read those dialogues in Sushant’s voice. We all miss him and now we will miss Dhoni on the field too. So, Here’s to the two amazing people!
