The weekend manifesto

Preparing for the weekend can be quite tricky.

While you know that all you are going to do is lie around, watch television, eat food that will make you fat, and complain about every damn thing in the universe, still, this time on a Friday evening has a very different and refreshing feel to it. For me, it feels like I will be born again on Monday.

There are different schools of thought on how the weekend should be enjoyed. While there are people who enjoy it over a peaceful dinner with their spouse and other relations(you know what I mean), there are people who just like watching anime all day. I am neither of them, and I hate both of them, the former because of envy and the latter because of lameness. I have a unique timetable comprised of doing some left off work, crying, sleeping, exercising, some more crying, and then some more crying, and finally realizing that the weekend is over.

This brings me to another very important and very conflicting point. Why do people choose to drink on a weekend? In fact, why do some people over others choose to drink at all occasions worth enjoying, a party, a wedding, holidays, and on every Holi? Is it because these people find life much more amusing when they drink and it takes the edge off of them or is it the opposite? Do they drink to escape the mundane hours of the day by dulling their senses?

What goes inside the heart of a person who needs a glass in his hand all the time? I really don’t know, I left my heart at the doorstep of the last girl I met, and she hasn’t returned it yet.

So, what does a perfect weekend include?

I will give you a few suggestions and you decide.

  1. Watch another Akshay Kumar movie
  2. Watch how aliens created the pyramids and every other temple in India on History TV-18.
  3. Drive up to a near-by lake and stare at still water for hours. (PS: Someone to hold your hand adds extra comfort)
  4. Wake up at 1pm, eat, then go to sleep, wake up at 6pm, eat, then stay up all night, repeat on Sunday.
  5. Go to a temple and wish for something you know is never going to come true.
  6. Improve your tinder profile. (Doesn’t matter though, you won’t get something good until you buy their subscription)
  7. Go to a garden(if in Delhi, Lodhi Garden), listen to birds chirping and leaves rustling in the wind and fall into an unending abyss of your own consciousness while meditating on the auras and energies of your Kundalini. (PS: If you are in Delhi, and you are going to a garden at day time, you also need to go to a Therapist).
  8. Or you can just fight someone and take some of the heat off. Sometimes I just want to tell some people to get lost, but they just won’t give me a reason to do so.

On top of all these things, there is something great you can do. Something so profound that it cannot be described in words, yet I will try anyway. Something that will make you feel like a new born child again. Sit. That’s correct. Just sit. One leg over the other, in a lotus position, look at the wall in front of you, or something you love and you are grateful for(Finding something like this can be difficult for some people). Keep sitting, keep staring, keep looking, keep listening, keep breathing and soon enough you will start to hear your own breath. You will hear voices that you have never heard before even though they were always around. Your heart will start pumping on a rate that is slow, but still steady. You will find pain, and you will find … music.

So, these are a few things you can do. Don’t take too long to decide. Weekends go as fast as light, if not faster.

I gotta go now, have to buy some napkins to cry for the weekend before the shops close.
